Mechanical Health and Safety Supervisor - 7 Month Contract Based in West Africa – Location TBC

Our client are a leading provider of transportable interim power stations utilising Heavy Fuel Oil ( HFO ). The product is a brand new concept in cost-effective power generation for developing countries. They are at the leading edge in developing, installing and operating interim thermal power solutions for developing countries, using a range of transportable, containerised power plants designed to operate on residual oils and biofuels.

They provide an affordable, flexible and simple power generation service tailored to satisfy the needs of utility, mining and large industrial customers. Their generating sets run on heavy fuel oil (HFO), a residual petroleum product used primarily as fuel for ships and base-load power generation, (other transportable power generation units usually run on more expensive light fuel oil (LFO) i.e. premium diesel fuel).

They are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Health and Safety Supervisor to work in West Africa for a seven month period. Role • Provide Health and Safety advice and support (mechanical or electrical) to site management to ensure risks are properly managed and the site meets statutory compliance, and • Provide Health and Safety training to site personnel. More details to follow Essential Skills and Experience • Mechanical Engineer or Experienced Mechanical Tradesman; • Experience as Health and Safety Manager; • Power station or Marine Experience. Experience of working with HFO; • A minimum of 5 years Supervisory Experience; • Ability to troubleshoot potential problems and rectify them; • CAD experience preferable, • Ability to speak French a strong advantage.
