*********************Control Systems Engineer Permanent************************** Our Client is a large Refinery based in the North West and is now looking to employ a Control Sytems Engineer to join their team. The Ideal Candidate will participate in a team of discipline engineers with responsibility for ensuring the safe and efficient operations of control systems and equipment within the organisation The position will have accountability for all control system technical discipline issues including benchmarking performance, the preparation and implementation of system modifications, management of system support contracts with 3rd party vendors and technical support & mentoring for offshore/onshore based maintenance technicians. Responsibilities Pro-actively monitor and analyse the performance of the systems, ensuring that control systems are operated & maintained in a manner that ensures high reliability and availability. Lead or assist with investigations & root cause analysis of plant trips and failures and identify, propose, justify and control or execute changes to control systems. Act as guardian of current control systems software and documentation. Manage alarm systems in line with EEMUA191 guideline recommendations. Ensure compliance with all relevant standards & statutory requirements Key Relationships The role requires liaison at all levels including: Offshore/onshore maintenance technicians and control room operators to give technical support. Other discipline engineers to capture requirements and perform requirements analysis. System vendors and engineering contractors on all aspects of DCS & PLC maintenance and design modifications. Educational Qualifications HNC / HND / Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline. Experience/Technical Competencies This position requires: Extensive knowledge & experience of designing, configuring, programming, modifying and commissioning relevant DCS systems (Emerson Provox/Bailey Infi 90) and PLC/SCADA systems (Schneider Modicon/Magelis). Experience in Oil & Gas, Chemical or other process industry, preferably including offshore experience. Good general knowledge of configuring, maintaining and fault-finding serial communications protocols & Ethernet networks. Strong communication, influencing, and leadership skills and the ability to work with an interdisciplinary team under minimal supervision.
