The Company
This is one of the leading South African Engineering and technical Services providers, having been established for 60 years and offering a full turnkey solution to clients in the Power (75%) and Petrochemical (25%) sectors. The company is going through exciting times and a full order means that they are looking to expand. With this in mind WRS have been assigned to recruit a Mechanical Engineering Manager with immediate effect.
The Role
Based in Johannesburg and reporting into the Engineering Director, you will manage the entire Engineering function which currently employs 80 staff including the drawing office, CAD Technicians, office Engineers, Site based Engineers and several administrative staff. In addition the disciplines within the Engineering business unit include; maintenance, process, high-pressure piping and field services. You will provide Engineering support to field services and maintenance crews and be the first point of call with the client (who are predominantly within the Power sector) to ensure projects are completed and any business issues are rectified swiftly.
The Candidate
The successful applicant will be familiar with the South African market place, be mechanically biased and have worked in the Power sector (preferably on coal fired plants) on large boilers from 600MW - 800MW. Ideally you will have some design experience and being professionally registered is advantageous, but not essential. What is essential is that you come from a mechanical background. If you worked on a mixture of Petrochem plants and Boilers, then this will also be considered. You will have progressed through ranks and will be currently working at senior management level, running a division and reporting into the board.
