Job Description
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a national power generation contractor working within their Gas turbine and Steam turbine division.  The company has sites throughout the UK and candidates must have an open attitude to travelling to sites.  

Responsibilities:

- Liaise with safety personnel on all aspects of the work scope
- As directed, oversee Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and auxiliaries construction/maintenance activities
- Responsible for on-site coordination of subcontractors and direct hired labour
- Provide input to the coordination of Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and auxiliaries works with other mechanical, civil and electrical works to avoid conflicts and minimize delays whilst ensuring the efficient, cost-effective and safe completion of the projects
- Responsible for overseeing the plant assembly work at site, including the repair and overhaul of existing Turbines and the erection of new Turbines
- Identify programme requirements, plan schedules in cooperation with balance of construction/maintenance team members
- Monitor and update schedules for improvement   Duties
- Actively promote feedback form all personnel regarding safety measures and possible improvements
- Provide risk assessments and method statements for relevant tasks
- Ensure the provision of risk assessments and method statements for all works to be undertaken by subcontractors
- Liaise with subcontractors on matters of progress, coordination, entitlement and interpretation of contract documents
- Liaise with client representatives at site, ensuring technical compliance with equipment specifications and drawings, and to determine necessary upgrades to the Turbines and auxiliaries
- Apply QA / QC requirements according to field quality program, I&T programs and I&T plans
- Ensure that work follows applicable codes and statutory regulations
- Supervise erection of Turbine and auxiliaries support structures
- Oversee the setup and commissioning of Turbine systems
- Oversee installation and testing of Turbine control system components and final assemblies
- Conduct regular site inspections and site meetings to determine the status of the projects, to provide directions, to coordinate the works and to solve technical problems
- Oversee work on steam piping, Turbine assembly and inspection and testing of all relevant annular and valves
- Ensure that construction/maintenance, erection completion documentation and turnover packages are prepared and submitted in a timely fashion
- Monitor the time schedule and supervise the construction/maintenance works of local contractors
- Keep a daily logbook with all relevant information regarding problems, work tasks, improvements, contractor behaviour, schedule delays, working time, etc (active support in order to avoid claims)
- Provide input to Mechanical Works Manager for weekly reports in order to promote the efficient and cost-effective execution of plant works
- Apply NCR and other relevant tools.  

Suitable applicants must hold a relevant mechanical engineering qualification combined with practical experience in a supervisory role. Practical experience must be gained in either a gas or steam turbine environment and candidates should have strong power generation knowledge preferably with relation to combined cycle plants. Knowledge of remeasures, quantity controls and lump sum contracts is also desirable and candidates must be health and safety conscious.
