Purpose of the Job
To carry out front-end design and detailed engineering process input to engineering projects in support of the development of new and existing oil and gas and water handling facilities and refineries.
Experience/Qualifications Needed
Degree in Chemical Engineering (B.Sc./M.Sc./B.Eng.) and/or membership of internationally accepted applicable professional Institute.
For a Lead Process Engineer, minimum 15 years upstream Oil & Gas, Refineries and Petrochemical experience including a minimum 8 years process engineering experience is required.
Principal Accountabilities
To carry out screening studies and develop process schematics for the Client's Conceptual Engineers in support of potential engineering project.
To carry-out process simulations and optimisation studies for selected projects and prepare Process Flow Schemes with mass balances and equipment sizes.
To provide detailed process engineering input during all design phases including interpretation of standards.
To review any process design work carried-out by third parties (vendors), and to participate in, and in some instances lead, HAZOPs, Safety and Facility audits.
To establish the actual (as opposed to design) capacities and capabilities of existing field facilities in order to identify potential bottlenecks and scope for optimisation.
For Senior Engineers, to act as lead discipline engineer of project managing discipline design teams of design teams of designers and engineers.
To identify potential applications for new technology.
To actively train and encourage the development of Omani staff to fulfill process and systems engineering roles.
To understand the requirements of the office quality system and ensure these requirements are met.
