Support / Warranty Engineer – Mechanical (Warranty Engineer) - 15 Month Contract Candidates must speak French – Based is West Africa
Our client are a leading provider of transportable interim power stations utilising Heavy Fuel Oil ( HFO ). The product is a brand new concept in cost-effective power generation for developing countries.
They are at the leading edge in developing, installing and operating interim thermal power solutions for developing countries, using a range of transportable, containerised power plants designed to operate on residual oils and biofuels. They provide an affordable, flexible and simple power generation service tailored to satisfy the needs of utility, mining and large industrial customers. Their generating sets run on heavy fuel oil (HFO), a residual petroleum product used primarily as fuel for ships and base-load power generation, (other transportable power generation units usually run on more expensive light fuel oil (LFO) i.e. premium diesel fuel). They are looking to recruit an experienced Warranty Engineer to work in West Africa for a seven month period. The Warranty Engineer supports the Plant Manager in the control of all aspects of power generation, power dispatch, and day-to-day plant supervision. The key aspects of the role are:
• Support the Plant Manager and his team in the operation and maintenance the power plant; • Provide training to the Plant Manager and his team in the operation and maintenance of MAN equipment; • Contribute to the development of operation and maintenance best practices; • Support the day to day operation of an HFO fired transportable diesel power plant installation in West Africa of 36MW, providing electricity supplies for local grid support; • Contribute to the effective implementation of planned operations and maintenance systems, and • Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer on an agreed timescale and format for safe and satisfactory installation and operation of the plant and for the achievement of agreed performance criteria.
Person Specification • Mechanical or Electrical power engineering or electrical utility background; • High Voltage (HV) and Control and Instrumentation (C&I) knowledge is required, HV certification as authorised person would be advantageous; • Degree / HND / HNC qualified depending on experience. Craft apprenticeship beneficial; • Operational & management experience on HFO fired diesel rotating power plant; • Supervisory experience in a shift engineering environment with responsibility for M & E staff; • Will preferably have experience of living and working in developing countries and be willing to carry out such roles, and • MUST speak French.
